Quality of Submissions
We get a lot of submissions of Reels, Backgrounds, and Themes that don't make it onto the site for sharing with other players due to the quality of the pictures used.

Whilst we appreciate the fact that you are taking the time to create a Reel and upload it we don't want to reduce the overall quality of the game play by releasing sub-standard reels and themes.

By sub-standard we mean Reels and Themes that have used images that are far to small to be used in a game.  It is vitally important when creating Reels and Themes that the images used are of sufficient size and quality to ensure that after being resized by the Set Builder they don't become distorted.

If an image is 300 pixels wide and you want to put it up as a Background in a Theme you're going to have trouble.  Simple pixel physics says 'you can't increase the size without losing clarity and quality'.  Sure, you can maybe increase the size by 5 or 10% but to increase a 300 pixel graphic to 1024 pixels makes a messy looking image.

The trick to making a good quality Reel or Theme is to start with good quality images that are larger than you need them to be.  When I create a Reel or Theme I load the images I plan to use into a graphics editor such as PaintShop Pro or PhotoShop and resize them to the correct dimensions.  I sharpen them and ensure that contrast, brightness, and colours are correct.  By doing these things I know that the pictures I'm using a good and it takes the pressure off the Set Builder because it doesn't have to resize which makes it much faster.

The most recent version of the Set Builder will not allow you to use a background image that is to small, maybe that will help.

Perhaps the problem do not realise that the Set Builder will upload the Reels and Themes they create to our web site.  Maybe it isn't clear enough on the save window that the item you are creating will be uploaded and shared with the Picture Slots community unless you turn off the upload option.

I don't want to hurt anyones' feelings by rejecting their creations but on the other hand I must try to maintain a minimum level of quality for other players. I hope everyone understands that.
